Janie Hett, Physical Therapist, Owner Doctor of Physical Therapy
Hi there! I’m Janie, the soul behind Peak Motion PT. I founded Peak in 2010 after a rocky start to my profession with a few negative work experiences. My goal was to create an environment that allowed me to do what I love in a positive, healing space. And I believe you will find that inside our doors. In 2013, I found myself overwhelmed with stress and physically debilitated with a new diagnosis of an autoimmune disease. Much of my spare time the past few years has been spent studying nutrition, stress management, and wellness to help me on my personal journey to health. In 2018, I completed my foundations course in Functional Medicine through the Institute of Functional Medicine and I am now able to better help my patients on their journey with traditional physical therapy, and resources and education for stress management and nutrition, because I’m passionate about whole body wellness. I grew up on a ranch near Buffalo, SD and I love being a part of helping my ranching family when I can. My husband, Dave, and I live in Beulah, WY with our little boy, Nathan and you can find us with our animals enjoying the great outdoors in our spare time.
Kim Cockrum, Physical Therapist Master of Physical Therapy
Hi! My name is Kim Cockrum. I have lived in and been practicing physical therapy in Spearfish since moving here in 2004. I absolutely love having the opportunity and privilege to serve the people in the community which I live. I am excited to be a part of the Peak Motion team that purposes to treat with a wholistic approach. In addition to conventional physical therapy methods of evaluation and treatment, Postural Restoration (PRI) is an approach that I use to help restore balanced movement patterns for less pain and improved function. Outside of work I cherish spending time with family and friends and enjoy activities in the hills year round.

I earned my doctorate of physical therapy degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in 2016 and have been treating patients in Wyoming and South Dakota ever since! I have a strong interest in Postural Restoration, which is a treatment approach that helps to restore balanced movement patterns for decreased pain and improved function
When I’m not in the clinic, you can find me spending time with my husband and two children, running, hiking, or baking something delicious!
Kortney Roling, Office Manager and Physical Therapist Assistant - Spearfish
My name is Kortney, spending much of my early career providing therapy in nursing homes in the Rapid City area, I am excited about the transition to outpatient physical therapy here in Spearfish. I completed my associates in Physical Therapy Assistant at Western Iowa Technical Community college in Sioux City, Iowa. I am also a certified Lymphedema massage therapist.
When not working I enjoy spending time traveling or exploring the great outdoors with my 2 dogs on-foot, by bike, kayak or motorcycle.
Dave Cromes, Practice Manager
Hi, I'm Dave. Some mistakenly call me Mr. Hett, but I don't hold that against Janie. I married into this business a few years ago. I am a US Navy veteran, with 20 years' experience in the corporate defense industry. Before moving to South Dakota in 2008, I lived overseas for 17 years in Europe and traveled throughout the Middle East, Central Asia, and Africa in support of US defense objectives. For nearly 16 years, I worked for Northrop Grumman, and had the opportunity to lead and manage independent programs across the globe.
In addition to running my company, Illustra Advisory as a resource for local businesses with a need for advice and coaching in professional business best practices, I also serve as the Practice Manager for Peak Motion. I love this team, our mission, and our patients. I see the difference our team makes in how people live life - and it's truly a gift to be even a small part of that.
Monte, Executive Office Greeter
My name is Monte. My Mom (Janie) came to my house when I was only 6 weeks old and I made sure that she picked me from my littermates! She thought that I would be a great companion for her, but she never realized how many people would start conversations and become friends because of me. I guess that’s why I’m the greeter and HR director at Peak Motion. They say research shows that dogs can reduce stress, anxiety, and depression. I have a special intuitive gift to identify those in need of some affection and I respect those that might not love me. I love kids (and socks) and I’ve been really helpful to calm anxiety with my Mom’s clients, especially the younger ones. I love my life and I’m pretty sure I am one of the luckiest dogs I know. I’d love to meet you sometime if you are in the area. No appointment needed!
OPI, Greeter - Sundance
Hi! I’m the greeter in our Sundance office. You can find me relaxing on the couch in the waiting area ready for conversation, or a rub behind the ears, and the occasional treat if it works out! I am a young Brittany, but I’m able to put my energy and hunting instincts aside while I’m at the office and be the sweetest dog you’ve ever met. My parents brought me home shortly after they had a baby thinking that the little boy would need a playmate. He and I are only 3 weeks apart and we’re best buddies. I can see many adventures together in our future. I’d love to meet you someday if you happen to be in the area. Of course, no appointment needed 😊
